Observations in the field— whether in a salt marsh, on a boat deck or in a market, have been my primary source of inspiration. Capturing what is unique about the subject matter and rendering an accurate depiction while avoiding the over-clinical, is what I try to attain: a translation of the unique visual qualities of complex natural systems and organisms, with which we share this world, into a flattering simplicity of colors, shapes and awareness.
