I recently had the unique opportunity to live for two years in a northern prefecture of Honshu, the largest island of Japan.
We often associate this island country with advanced modernization and sprawling urban developments.
While in some areas that is the case, I found a different side of Japan during my travels— a side with extraordinary natural beauty held within mountains and waterways.
